Often I wish I could see again,
Moonbeams on Lake Michigan.
Walking the pier on a moonlit night
Made the whole world seem just right.
Stars twinkling above
Seemed to whisper of love.
Waves gently pushing their way to shore,
Moonbeams playing tag on the watery floor.
Full of delight, oh dear long gone night.
Margaret Baumgarten was a school teacher, a mother, and a farm wife in rural Wisconsin through the middle of the 20th Century. She was also a poet, a storyteller, a writer, and my grandmother. Each Sunday I share one of her works.
